・城町通り

この道は、明治５年富岡製糸場が建設されたことで生まれた道です。江戸時代初期にはこの地区は「城」という字で呼ばれていた記録があり、そのため「城町通り」と呼ばれるようになったと思われます。製糸場建設当時は資材を積んだ大八車がたくさん通りました。

・Shiromachi-dori Street

This road was created in 1872 with the construction of the Tomioka Silk Mill. There is a record of this area being referred to by the character “Shiro” in the early Edo Period (1603-1868), which is likely why the street came to be called Shiromachi-dori Street. When the Silk Mill was being constructed, numerous hand-drawn, two-wheeled carts called Daihachiguruma loaded with materials were going up and down this street.

・Rue Shiromachi

Cette rue a été aménagée à l'occasion de la construction de la filature de soie de Tomioka en 1872. D'après les archives d'époque, on sait que l'idéogramme « shiro » désignait ce quartier au début de l'ère Edo (XVIIe siècle), d'où serait tiré le nom actuel de la rue. Pour le transport des matériaux nécessaires à la construction de la filature, des convois de charrettes à bras empruntaient la rue.
